Ski Brooklyn
It's snowing, so break out those ski's and ski Brooklyn. Take a picture while you're at it. Send it in and be featured on the BSC... if it's good that is.

BSC On MyOpenBar
In my post about Thursday's wine tasting party I mentioned that I was possibly going to become a contributer for MyOpenBar.com. Well, my first contributions have been made. Go take a look, the BSC piece about Steve Aoki's party is on the front page complete with Cutie's best photo. The posting below that one includes a picture I took from the wine tasting on Thursday.
Need Design Help
I'm working on getting tons of Brooklyn Sk Club stickers made but I need a person with design skills. Here's my idea for the logo: two ski's crossed in the shape of an X, then have BKSC in it. Like the NYHC logo, only ski-ier. Something like this:
But without the circle around it and with Ski's - get it. It needs to be simple, the ski's should be outlines. The simplicity is due to the fact that it cost more money to get fancy. So keep it simple but not retarded simple. It still needs to look pretty. I want to try and keep the colors to no more than 3 or so.
While I'm at i need a clever slogan so if you think of anything let me know. And finally the banner I made SUCKS so if you wanna try and improve upon it, be my guest.
Thanks to everyone that is willing to help. I'll get you into some parties or something for the assist.

Naked People & Free Booze
Tonight is another installment of Rated X at Scenic. Last week I went but I wasn't really feeling it. I left early because I was very tired. This week I'll be sure to drink my Sparks so I can get all crazy and take my pants off. Actually, from what I hear there were more than enough naked dudes last time. Hopefully tonight isn't another Vienna (Sausage capitol of the world... get it?).
Anyway, I will be there bright and early so I can get my fill of free booze. Let's make a pact to get totally shitfaced hammered and act like maniacs. Who's with me? Don't forget, Cutie will be there taking photos for Brooklyn Ski Club. Make sure you get all naked and make out with strangers when you see him coming. Make out with Cutie while you're at it - he's fuckin' adorable. Oh, and by him beer when the open bar is over, he's really poor. It will all be worth it when you wake up Sunday and see your mug on BSC (and maybe My Open Bar)

iPod Fashion Is Dumb
I saw this little number yesterday. Apparently, Levi's have decided to make iPod Jeans. What the fuck??? Is this really necessary, last time I checked I had pockets. Do I really need them custom shaped to my iPod? And iPod's change shape every 6 months or so. Does that mean I need to throw out all my jeans when I get a new iPod? Actually, wouldn't thieves be able to tell what kind of iPod you have by your jeans? "Yo, that dude has a Nano son" says thief 1. "Yeah but that dude has the 60gig Video - lets get him"
This whole thing is just gay. Come on people don't buy this dumb shit. Of course now that I said that I'll be the one rocking them in 2 years... damnit.
Here is the story from MacWorld

So Goddamn Punk!
If you haven't heard, Bad Brains are playing at CBGB's on February24th and 25th. The show on the 24th is with Leeway, Ensign, Upnrunnin, & Charge and the show the next day is with Leeway, DNME, the Vacancies & Bedouin Soundclash. Being that I'm a Jersey boy who's never seen Ensign I have no choice but to go on the 24th.
I bought my tickets yesterday and I can't wait to go. I haven't seen Bad Brains in 5 years so this should be good, especially at CB's. That's like seeing Moses on the mountaintop, or some shit like that. I think the tickets were $15 but I'm not sure because I bought a few sets of tickets for various shows yesterday.

A Star Is Born
Last night I headed to Happy Ending for Steve Aoki's party. My roommate was one of the people who came with me and the only reason he did was for the free Sparks. Unfortunately, when we got there the Sparks was pretty much dried out. Cutie, my roommate, has NO money because his job has been fucking him out of days lately. No Sparks meant no drinking for Cutie, which is blasphemous. So I made him a deal - if he went around taking pictures I would supply him with PBR all night.
He made a few rounds and came back to show me what he had. It was some pretty good shit, I have to say. The funny thing is, Cutie is legally blind - he can see, but not in color and he isn't legally allowed to drive. From the looks of these pictures sight isn't very important for photography. The Cobrasnake was at the party and I could see him shaking in fear of the new blind warrior on the scene. Anyway, I've made Cutie the official photographer for Brooklyn Ski Club - pose for him tonight at Scenic.
Back to the party - this thing wasn't nearly the party I was expecting. I mean Dim Mak is a pretty bad ass label so you figure there would be models and rockstars everywhere but that wasn't really the case. The music was so-so, I noticed a lot of the same songs were played throughout the course of the night. And you know what didn't get played? Gang of Four (MP3)- that's right not a single song, that's unheard of now-a-days.
As always, the place really started to fill up as the night went on. Everyone was dancing and having a good time but it was pretty tame overall. It was fun but not like naked-screaming-shot slamming fun. Maybe once Cutie is a Bronques-esque figure he'll be able to get people all naked and crazy. Here is the work of Cutie:

Wyld Stallyns???
Head over to Crash Mansion tonight for a big mysterious rock show. The "Wyld Stallyns" are playing tonight. Who are they? Bill and Ted? No one knows - it's a secret, shhhh! Rumor has it this is one of the secret Strokes shows. Let me tell you something about rumors - they're usually bullshit. So I'm not saying it's not the Strokes, I'm just saying rumors aren't usually true.
I'm also not saying I know who it is. Even if I did, I couldn't broadcast that to thousan... errr, hundred(s) of people. That wouldn't be right - it would ruin the surprise. With all that said, I won't be wasting my time going to this thing.

Aoki Is In NYC
Tonight, if I ever finish posting, I'm going to Happy Ending for the Dim Mak party. From what I hear Kid Millionaire throws some wild shindigs over in LA, so I suspect this will be a good one. There will be free Sparks too - so I'm very happy. Oh and Steve's sister is a big time model so I'm sure there will be some pretty girls attending. Here are the details (click the flyer):

Dim Mak MP3's:
Von Bondies - Please Please Man
The Panthers - Don't Be A Dick
Neon Blonde - Headlines

Thursday Evening Wining
On Wednesday I got an email from the nice people over at MyOpenBar.com. To my surprise I was asked to become a contributing writer for the site. For a drunk like myself there is no higher honor. Seriously - my favorite and most used website asked me to join them in destroying livers throughout NYC. How could I say no?
Well, I didn't say no - I said maybe. I'm pretty strapped for time so I wasn't sure if I could handle it. So yesterday after work I headed over to the MyOpenBar party at Summers bar on the LES for their wine tasting party. It started early and I had to take a cab to get there on time - I hate cabs. Once there I found my roommate and co., who were already hammered.
This place was a madhouse. I could not move at all once I got through the door. So I stayed fairly close to the wine table and kept drinking my shots (tiny cups) of wine. Due to my sedentary postion I couldn't find anyone from MyOpenBar. Nonetheless I sent an email over today saying I would do it whether I could manage or not. So stay tuned - you might see some of my stuff over there soon.

Back to the party: Once the wine ran out (around 7) so did I. After that it was over to Welcome To The Johnson's. What a cool little bar, I can't believe I've never been there. It reminds me of my Grandmom's house in Jersey. After about an hour of Johnson's I made my way across town to Don Hill's to see my friends band. That ended around 10:30 and I headed to Lit for the brand new NC-17 party.
As always I wasn't feeling it - Lit that is. I love the space there and I love the crowd but the management of that joint sucks. No one seems to ever know what's going on. I mean the bartender's don't know (or won't tell) the details of the open bar. I actually left right when the free booze started and my people showed up. I was pretty tired and needed my rest. So I have no idea if this party got good or not. From what I hear it was cool. The music was really good while I was there.
So that was the night - nothing special but I had a good time over all. I wish I got Spark'sed up before I went to Lit, maybe I could have hung in there.

Morningwood/The Exit
Well, it's been a few days but I'm back. Sorry for the lack of posts recently - it's been hectic. Time to backtrack a bit.
Wednesday night I went to see Morningwood and The Exit at the Bowery Ballroom. The show was sold out but I got in because I am doing some marketing for The Exit. I got there a bit late and missed the first three songs of The Exit's set. As soon as I entered I headed for the stage to snap a few pictures.
I've heard the album by The Exit and it's not bad - kinda sounds like late Police mixed with early U2. Honestly though I wasn't super impressed with it. But this was a different band I was seeing - they fucking rocked. Far from the mellow mood they project on tape. The band is extremely tight, this has a lot to do with the drummer - who is incredible. The guitarist/singer really has a presence on stage and he kinda looks like Phil Lynot from Thin Lizzy.
This band is very good live - one of the better ones I've seen in a while. If you have a chance I recommend them highly.

After the band left stage I started to look around at the crowd. I noticed that about 85% of the people there were bloggers and label types - very funny. I'm not talking shit because I'm both, I'm just saying you don't see crowds like that often.
Next up was buzz band Morningwood... Blehhh. I just don't get it - there's nothing interesting about this band. It is nice to see Rachel Dratch has something going on the side - just kidding. But speaking of the singer, what the fuck? She is the queen of schtick and it's pretty goddamn annoying.
I don't have any pictures of Morningwood because I couldn't get anywhere near the stage. I had enough after 2 songs and went on my way.

Tonight's Game Plan
My first move of the night will be eating a bowl of pasta, which I expect will be delicious. As soon as I'm through with that I'm off to the Bowery Ballroom to see Morningwood (band of the minute) and The Exit. I'm not sure if I'm sticking around for all of Morningwood's set, I've read some pretty ugly reviews, but if they're good of course I'll stick around.
After the show I am off to The Beauty Bar to check out BANG! This was my 2nd favorite party when it was at No. 1 Chinese. This is the second installment at The Beauty Bar and from the pictures I've seen it looks like a good time.
