Experiencing Technical Difficulties

My shitty computer died and now I can't get any posts up. I have an HP Pavillion and when I start it up it refuses to advance past the blue screen with the logo. I tried getting into setup, safe mode, and my backup drive but nothing works. If anyone can help please do.

In other news I saw a band called the Black Lips last night. To close the set the guy pissed in his own mouth - it was insane.

New York Dolls Tonight

So this is how it's going to be tonight. Around 9PM I'm going to head out and hit up Happy Ending. I know 9 is early but I want to get good and hammered before making my way to Avalon. The party at Happy Ending is the I (heart) Sweatshop Labor party. There will be a champagne and Bacardi open bar from 9-11, which is why I'm going. I'll probably hang here until 10:30 or so and then head over to Avalon.

If you want to go see the Dolls there are a few things you should know. If you just show up it's $30, if you show up and mention Shaw Promotion it's $25. If you don't mind getting there early then it's $20 between 9-10 but you have to mention Motherfucker MySpace. After 1AM it's only $15, but by then the Dolls will be done. There will be an open bar from 10-11 (I'm not sure what). So that's that - maybe I'll see you around.

This Week's Concert Schedule

Starting tonight I have 5 concerts to attend in the next 7 days. It's a bit much but at least I won't have to worry about having content this week. Tonight I kick off concert week with the New York Dolls. The tix were $25 a pop and I found out I could have been on the list after I bought them - but oh well, shit happens. Here's the schedule:

Sunday - New York Dolls
Monday - Wolfmother
Wednesday - Sigmund Droid
Friday - Bad Brains
Saturday - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I bought ear plugs the other day so I should survive the week.

Guns N' Roses Leak

I stumbled across the two leaked Axl Rose... err, I mean Guns N' Roses tracks. The first two tracks I found on Central Village - the other one I stumbled upon randomly. So the first two tracks are not so great - this is mellow GNR and I was never a big fan of that. I prefer my GNR more guns than roses... this is way fucking roses. That said, they don't suck - Axl's voice might but the songs aren't all that bad.

TWAT has supposedly been around for awhile. It sounds very much like Use Your Illusion era GNR. I think this may have been around since then or not long after those albums came out. The reason I say this is Axl's voice is way fucking stronger on this track than on the others. I really don't like this song much but at least it sounds like GNR. Honestly, I was expecting a disaster and this is far from it. Here they are kids:

Four More Years!

Tonight is yet another installment of my favorite weekly party, Trash. Tonight is special night because Trash celebrates it's 4-year anniversary. There will be 2-4-1 drink specials most of the night and all your favorite scene stars will be there. The infamous Michael T will be spinning the tunes. This is without a doubt the best thing going on tonight so I expect to your ass there. Let's just hope the cops don't shut this one down.

Trash! @Rififi
332 E. 11th St. (Between 1st & 2nd Ave) (212) 677-1027
21+ 10PM - 4:30AM
This party is FREE, but rsvp to mail@trashnyc.com to skip the line!

Fuck Cancer - Buy A T-Shirt

I came across this while perusing the From Autumn To Ashes webpage. A bunch of cool hardcore and not-so-cool emo bands got together and are selling special t-shirts. The proceeds from these shirts goes towards fighting that fucking bastard of a disease - cancer. Most of the time things like this suck because the product is sub-par and the price is outrageous. This time is different, these bad boys are only $12 and the designs are sooo badass. You gotta go buy at least one.

Sigmund Droid Will Rule New York

I checked my email today and I had a note from a band called Sigmund Droid. They wanted me to check them out on MySpace. Usually when I do this the band is decent but nothing to call all the friends about. Today was a special day because Sigmund Droid will rock your socks off - and I'm calling everybody. This band sounds like NYC... I'm not sure what that means but I think you'll agree.

Pablo, the guy who contacted me, aside from being in the band is also a video artist for Shindig. Yes, Shindig the party that everyone loves. The reason I love that party is because of the energy of it - well this band captures that and then some. This is NYC party music and it will make you move your ass.

I will be doing a full review of their CD in the very near future. Also they're playing on the 22nd - I'll have a review of that too. In the meantime, check out these MP3's. Be warned: they'll make you regret you stayed in tonight.

Scott Stapp & Kid Rock Like To Watch (Each Other)

Have you seen this shit yet? Fuck, it's really creepy. Here goes - Scott Stapp and Kid Rock getting blow jobs together in a trailer. What the fuck? At least hated douchebags stick together - literally (sorry).

Luckily, this is just a preview and therefore there is nothing rated above PG-13. But be warned - it will creep you the fuck out. Look at the fucking slutbags in the video, I thought this breed died off with Motley Crue. This video makes me not want to be a rockstar.

Dick Hunt

So we all know by now that our Vice President shot some dude in the face. It's really funny and all that - I'll spare you the jokes we've all heard a million times. You may have missed this little gem though. This is the Dick Cheney version of Duck Hunt. I was kinda pissed about seeing this since we came up with this idea at the office, but fuck it - we would have never made the thing anyway.

GBH Music Video Festival Launch

Alejandro over at GBH asked me to post about his latest endeavor to What's Up NYC. It looks pretty damn cool so I decided to talk about it here as well. It's the GBH online music video festival. Instead of writing about it here is the press release:

Described by New York nightlife icon Larry Tee as “The online hipster
event of the Year”, the GBH Music Video Festival will present some of the
most interesting, provocative, noteworthy, entertaining, creative and
imaginative videos (shown in their entirety) in a user-friendly format on
GBH

Music fans will find music videos from hot underground artists such as
LCD Soundsystem, Tiga, Soulwax, Funkstorung, Bright Eyes, Adam Freeland,
The Juan Maclean, Vitalic, Miss Kittin, Royksopp, Annie, The White
Stripes, Armand Van Helden, Tom Vek and Brazilian Girls - among others.
The videos are segregated into eight categories (rock, electronic, dance
etc.), gathered together over 2005.

The videos are all presented in the user-friendly flash format, which
means there is practically no download time. The whole online festival
has been designed to be very simple to navigate, whilst providing the
highest quality videos from some of the world’s most celebrated
directors, in a format that all computer users can access with great
ease.

Despite the outstanding quality of the videos, and the popularity of
many of them in Europe, most remain largely unseen by American
audiences, being hidden amongst the myriad of mediocre offerings on the
web, and largely impossible to find on American television. GBH spent a
huge amount of time and effort uncovering the best material, and
presenting it for a new audience to experience.

“There is just so much amazing music coming out of the underground, and
some of the most celebrated directors in the business are making videos
for them, but they are not getting in front of the American viewing
public.” says Tom Dunkley, the director of the festival, who produces a
weekly music video newsletter for GBH. “Many people just don’t have the
time to search through all the sub-standard videos to find the good ones
- and even if they did, download times for video can still be daunting.
We decided that someone had to bring the very best videos together in a
way that makes it easy for people who are interested in music to
appreciate them – and that someone was GBH. We are very excited, there
are some incredible videos here that are going to blow people away.”

The Festival goes live on Feb 15 2006 and will remain online until the
end of May. Viewers will be giving an opportunity to vote for their
favorite videos from each category, and the winners will be announced at
the end of May.

Funny Video Post

I had these here videos passed along to me recently. You may have seen them before but I've watched them a couple times and they're still funny - so try again.
