Tonight: Wild Yaks, New York Howl , K Holes @ Glasslands!

Wild Yaks are pretty much my favorite new band right now and I haven't even seen them live yet. Hell, I've only heard like five songs. That's how fucking awesome these dudes are. I implore you - get stinkin' drunk, head to Glasslands and sing and dance like a maniac all night.

Seriously - Wild Yaks, NY Howl, and The K-Holes (ex-Black Lips)! How fucking nutso is this going to be?

Anvil : The Story Of Anvil

PaganFest America! NYC May 4th

I don't know how many of you kids like metal but this tour is pretty fucking excellent. Plus the MetalSucks dudes are somehow involved so it must be good.

When I first saw the name PaganFest I was hoping that it would be in the woods upstate somewhere. Have a bunch of huge bonfires going while we drink mead from goblets and eat exotic meats (bear perhaps?) cooked on spits. Now that sounds like a good time! But I can settle for a show at Irving Plaza instead.

What's Kim Thayil Been Up To?

We know what Chris Cornell has been up to these past few years but I for one am more interested in Kim Thayil. So what's up Kim?

1999: No WTO Combo w/ Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) & Krist Novoselic (Nirvana)

"FUCK Cornell!" Soundgarden fronted by TAD w/ Tom Morello

Probot

After the demise of Soundgarden, Thayil went on to contribute guitar to work by Pigeonhed and Presidents of the United States of America. More recently, he contributed guitar to the track "Blood Swamp" from the 2006 SunnO)))/Boris album Altar, for which he also wrote liner notes. Thayil also plays lead guitar on a track called V.O.G. by Ascend, which features Gentry Densley (Iceburn, Eagle Twin) and Greg Anderson (Sunn 0))), Engine Kid, Goatsnake). Ascend's record, titled Ample Fire Within, was released in 2008 by Southern Lord Records. -via Wikipedia

So basically he's been jamming here and there with people but not really doing much. Thayil, dude, we need you homey. Start a real band and start writing some crazy shit - like "Flower" stuff. You can still shred so get at it. We need to counteract this Chris Cornell nonsense.

Super Party Fun Time Was Awesome!

This is a bit late but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the Castle In Hell party on Saturday. I got there a little late (about 8:15) and the place was already half full (I'm an optimist). Before 9PM it was jam packed and pretty much stayed that way all night!

Thanks to all the bands Action Painters, Dynasty Electric, & The Sounds Of Kaleidoscope. A special thanks to HTR for letting us have a party in their basement. And an extra special thanks to Radio America for helping me put this together (they did most of the work). I also want to thank Jeremy J for jumping on last minute as the DJ.

If Saturday sucked I probably would have thrown in the towel but I had a blast and I already have a couple more in the works! Get fucking ready to party!

Street Carnage Talks About Newmore Switchblades

Just go read the post. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks Cerebral Ballzy is about as punk as it gets. And if you haven't seen them live yet then you need to get drunk and hit the next show.
