Brooklyn Bands Open Cajun Restaurant (Ex Humans, The Weight), Opens Thursday.

A few months back I was in New Orleans for a few days. It's an amazing town with some of the best and most unique cuisine in the country. Now that the Gulf is more akin to the Clampett's back yard it's time to look elsewhere for Cajun grub.

Luckily we won't have to go far. Some of the guys from local punk band Ex Humans and country rockers The Weight have teamed up to open a restaurant right on Bedford, the name of the place is HoneyChiles', Hell, the kitchen is in The Charleston, one of the last punk joints in North Brooklyn.

Expect legit, real-deal Cajun fare like etouffe, gator, turtle and traditional Southern staples like hush puppies and boiled peanuts (w/ Cajun seasoning, of course).

To celebrate the opening The Charleston is having a party this Thursday, July 8th. There's going to be a crawfish boil, live bands, NOLA boozes and Jonathan Toubin will be handling DJ duties!

I'd be posting this news even if the bands weren't involved because I fucking love Cajun food but the fact that two really damn good Brooklyn bands are behind it makes it all the better. Congrats, see you on Thursday!

Tonight: Soul Clap & Dance Off 3rd Year Anniversary Party

Jonathan Toubin is the dude who made NYC dance parties fun again. Tonight is the third anniversary of what may be the best party of the past few years, Soul Clap and Dance Off at Glasslands. He spared no details for tonight's celebration so do come out.

New Year's Eve Parties & Shows

As is the case every year there are a shit ton of parties for NYE. That said most of what you see on the various NYE sites and local event sites are douchetastic. Here are a few parties that might be more up your alley if you're trying to avoid the cast of Jersey Shore.

The most interesting party might be at Shea Stadium but I'm not sure I can handle the entire history of the world.

This list is not ranked, order of listing is random so don't think higher means better.

Michael T & Theo bring back Rated-X for NYE. This will be fun for sure.

$6 before Midnight! Joanna Angel & the Burning Angel girls. I mean Joanna's naked ass is on the flyer so you kinda already know what you're in for with this one.
Famous Friends crew. Not cheap but the 2 hour open bar makes up for it.
FREE!!! That's rare for NYE.

The Cake Shop show looks particularly good but it all sounds fun (and cheap). NY Night Train parties never fail...and there's 3 on NYE!

Team Robespierre on NYE.
Brooklyn warehouse party by MeanRed (who know how to throw a banger).

Today: Pool Party; After Party @ Brooklyn Bowl; New York Night Train Dance Party; The Beets BBQ

Another Sunday means another Pool Party. Due to being out of town and severe hangovers I've only been to the first one this year. However, I think I'll swing by for Dark Meat today. Those dudes are fucking awesome. After that there are two pretty excellent options. First you have the official Pool Party after party at Brooklyn Bowl. They're supposed to have some kind of free booze for 2 hours! That's a pretty sweet deal. The other happening is The Beets are having a BBQ to celebrate Juan becoming an American citizen, that's at Cinders Gallery. If you're still standing around 9 then there's a New York Night Train party at K&M, which should still be rockin' after the free booze stops flowing at Brooklyn Bowl. So there you have it, your Sunday is all laid out for you - go get shit faced or got to church, which is it?

Tonight: New York Night Train Soul Clap Dance Off And After Hours

Two killer parties brought to you by Mr. Toubin. First it's the Soul Clap Dance Off at Glasslands. Our pal Martin from Wild Yaks is one of the guest judges for the dance off. The Soul Clap party is pretty legendary so I'd suggest checking this out, especially since it's only $3 and there's free beer at 11. After that party ends the NYNT crew meet up with Todd P over at Market Hotel for the after party.
