Tonight: Cerebral Ballzy @ Cake Shop; JEFF The Brotherhood @ Santos; The Dixons @ Union Pool

Our favorite thrashers are back in NYC and they're playing Cake Shop tonight. Not the best venue for a band like Ballzy but it is what it is. The always awesome JEFF The Brotherhood are playing Santo's Party House. If you're itching for some real deal country then check out The Dixons at Union Pool.

THE DIXONS - BROKEN HEARTED, LOVESICK & BLUE - LIVE @ UNION POOL

Tonight: Raccoon Fighter & Gunfight! @ Cake Shop; So So Glos & Hussle Club @ Mercury Lounge

Our homeboys in Raccoon Fighter are playing the last night of their residency at Cake Shop tonight with our pals Gunfight!. If I wasn't there I would be at the Rocky Business release party at Mercury Lounge with So So Glos and Hussle Club. The after party is at Darkroom with Schoolboy, Dirtyfinger and Prince Terrence DJing.

After you get good and loaded after work head across the river to Cake Shop for the second installment of the Raccoon Fighter residency. Tonight they're got We Are Country Mice and She Keeps Bees joining them.

Tonight: Hard Nips & Juiceboxxx @ Cake Shop

Hard Nips are awesome. They're releasing some new shit and this is the release party. Go.

Tonight: She Keeps Bees, Raccoon Fighter, Spanish Prisoners & More @ Cake Shop; Wild Yaks @ Legion

My friends in Raccoon Fighter and Radio America are playing a show tonight with Spanish Prisoners, She Keeps Bees and Hombre Nombre (SHARK? side project). Elsewhere, Wild Yaks are playing as a 3-piece at Legion. They go on around 9:30, I think.

Tonight: Greg Ginn (Black Flag) @ Cake Shop; Freelance Whales @ Bowery Ballroom

If not for my recent obsession with Queens band Freelance Whales I would most definitely be at Cake Shop catching Greg Ginn and the Taylor Texas Corrugators. You see, Greg Ginn started a little band back in the late 70's called BLACK FLAG! Yeah, he's one of those dudes that more or less shaped all modern rock music and without question influenced anything remotely related to punk and hardcore. His current band is almost a jam band of sorts so don't bother strapping on your hippie stomping boots because this sure as shit ain't no Black Flag show.

Tonight: Rando @ Gallery Bar; The Beets, Beach Fossils, & More

There's a new Tuesday party in town called Rando and from what I hear it's pretty crazy. My bro Full Time Fun as well as Dances With White Girls are behind the madness. Tonight is Mardi Gras edition, which is odd since Fat Tuesday is next week and well, it's a Tuesday. Anyway, go check it out after Lost or the Yeasayer show.

Elsewhere in the LES, at Cake Shop to be exact, you can check out an awesome rock n' roll show with The Beets, Christmas Island, Beach Fossils, and Total Slacker.

Fiasco Playing Free Show At Cake Shop

Fiasco has announced a free show at Cake Shop on January 23rd. There was no time mentioned in the email I got but let's assume around 9. If you can get in then it should be a good time.

They also sent over a retarded MP3 of them doing a song acapella. Once you hear it you'll agree that they picked the right song for this - given the title of the song and all.
