The '90's Video Assault, Episode 4: Deftones

This video right here changed the world. When this hit MTV and The Box (remember that shit?) within hours every punk kid with a skateboard in America was rocking Dickies. This was the soundtrack to our lives we were all waiting for. This song inspired half the kids I know to pick up guitars. When we all rushed out and bought the album we were even more blown away. Adrenaline became the standard and was heard everywhere. "Bored" became the first of many Deftones songs every heavy band in every town covered (mine covered "Bored" and "7 Words"). I even went out and bought a Stephen Carpenter ESP LTD, which I still have and was just playing 10 minutes ago. So while this song is my least favorite from the album it does not take away the importance. Enjoy.

The 90's Video Assault, Episode 3: Tool

Tool fucking rules. They always have and I'm pretty sure they always will. "Sober" was the video that made them famous but I've always loved the "Prison Sex" video so much more. Frankly it's a better song too. But either way Tool made videos that were offensive and gruesome without actually showing anything offensive or gruesome...ok, maybe a little gruesome. They're like great old horror movies, the fucked up shit is implied but never seen. Plus the animation is amazing and dark. I was just going to post "Prison Sex" but fuck it, here you go:

The '90's Video Assault, Episode 2: DOWN

Great, great song by the all-star metal band Down (members of Pantera, COC, Eyehategod, and Crowbar). The funny thing is that this sounds a lot more like Skynryd then Pantera. Finally a band teenage metal heads in 1995 could enjoy with their old man. Sadly the next album wasn't nearly as good, or "southern" sounding, but NOLA is a classic and this is the song that introduced Southern Metal.

The '90's Video Assault, Episode 1: GLU

This will be a new weekly video tribute to my favorite decade ever, the 90's. This video itself isn't great but the song is. God Lives Underwater were one of the few industrial/rock bands back in the day that had the licks to compete with NIN. Sure they went into the shitter later in the decade but they started strong with songs like "All Wrong". You might be saying "dude, there were way better bands you could lead this new weekly thing off with" but I don't care - picking a fucking Nirvana video is easy, so fuck off.
