Tonight: Smell The Glove Returns! @ St. Jerome's

Remember that awesome party we used to throw at St. Jerome's? The one with the cheap booze, hot babes dancing on stage and campy 80's hair metal? Well, Smell The Glove returns to St. Jerome's after a 6 month hiatus! Our good friend Michael T. will be DJing along with Natasha Komis and Ali Hassan from WildStreet.

Of all the events I throw this is hands down the most fun, in my opinion. It gets fucking crazy every single time we do this thing. You should definitely try and make it out next Thursday and don't forget to tell your boss you're going to be sick on Friday.

***Update: Vodka Open Bar 10-11pm! Parris of the legendary CRO-MAGS is hosting! YES & YES!

Tonight: Monsters & Mascara, Horror Punk Tribute Party (Open Bar 10-11)

If you're a friend of mine then you know I'm way into The Misfits. So when Michael T. asked me if Smell The Glove wanted to host his horror punk party we (myself & Carlos) of course said yes. The party is a tribute to Misfits, Cramps, Cooper and the like. They have an all-star band and a ton of guest vocalists performing classics from the genre. It should be a lot of fun. If you want on the guestlist then get in touch.

Mention "Smell The Glove" at the door and get in for $10.

Tonight: I'm Hosting 2 Parties (200 Orchard + The Cove). Free/Cheap Booze.

I have to cut out of work soon so I can get rested for what's sure to be one hell of a night. It starts at 200 Orchard for "Who Stole Our Christmas?". It's a Michael T party and my homeboys Forest City are playing in addition to Kidd Dynamo (coming all the way from Ireland!). There's free PBR from 10-11 and $3 shots all night. It'll be good fun.

After that we put on our dancing shoes and head to Brooklyn for Disco Vibes. Our pals at Shaw Promotion and Kill Shop Dance are hosting too. Skinny Friedman is the guest DJ along with the regulars. There's going to be $1 beer for 2 hours.

I hope you can stop by one or both, or better yet party hop with us. I'll make sure your liver and ear drums hate you in the morning. As Andrew W.K. would say in this situation, "PARTY HARD!"

I'm Hosting At 200 Orchard On Friday. Forest City Is Playing. Free Booze, No Cover.

Michael T is having a little holiday party over at 200 Orchard on Friday. I'll be hosting the festivities. Which basically means I'll be getting drunk at a table in the corner - just like your redneck uncle on Christmas. My homies, Forest City, are playing and that's good news for you because they're awesome. There's an hour of free PBR and $3 tequila shots all night. And the bestest part is it's all free! Hooray Santa Christ! Just walk in and start drinking. Then challenge me to an arm wrestling duel and be defeated in front of all your friends.

Tonight: Bowie Ball @ LPR -- Jingle Balls Ball @ Glasslands -- Rumanian Buck + More @ Don Pedros

Bowie Ball is the place to be tonight for sure but if you aren't in the mood for disco dancing and silver jumpsuits then I'd suggest the New York Night Train party at Glasslands or the show at Don Pedros. Rumanian Buck, Work Out, The Volunteers, Humboldt Fog, and our bros Radio America are at Dons. We'll be there tonight shootin' pool and drinking stale beer in the basement.

The Last Rated-X Ever

On Saturday I hosted the last Rated-X ever. I used to be a regular in the Scenic days in the East Village. When it moved to Luke & Leroy and then Don Hill's I stopped going as often but when I did I always had a great time. The last Rated-X was one of the best in recent memory. I saw a whole bunch of people who I haven't seen in awhile. It was great to catch up and see familiar faces. To say Rated-X went out with a bang would be an understatement.

Word is that there will still be an occasional Rated-X but I'm not sure where, hopefully it moves back to the East side. Anyway, I'll stop right here because Igor from Driven By Boredom posted some pics and a great little write up about the night.

Tonight: Tom Is DJing @ Hugs

Michael T is having a party at Hugs on North 6th tonight. I don't know what the party is called since I can't find it listed anywhere but it is happening. Since you'll be in the hood anyway for Northside you might as well stop in and drink, there's no cover.

BSC contributor, Tom (Radio America), will be DJing. I'm off to see The Albertans play na acoustic set on the street in front of Cameo.

New York Dolls, Motherfucker!

Sunday night I braved the cold and headed to Avalon for Motherfucker to see the legendary New York Dolls. The band was scheduled to go on at 11:30 but of course that didn't happen. So I grabbed an overpriced beer and set up shop against the stage on the left side.

All the real photographers filled in the gap between the front of stage and the crowd. I wasn't front and center but I had a damn good spot that turned out to be better than I thought. Half way through the show the real photographers got thrown out from the front area and pushed to the left side of the stage. So it ended up being twenty photographers on the left corner all reaching over each other and fighting for a spot and just me on the right - nice.

Anyway, on to the show. It started out with a proper introduction - proper in the New York Dolls world meaning a huge drag-queen welcomed them to the stage. They came out and everyone immediately recognized David and Sylvain but who the fuck were the other guys? At least they looked the part, I saw earlier versions of the "comeback" band and they looked like a college bar band.

The band came out strong and were obviously having a good time. Sylvain was running around like he did a few bumps before the show. He did look a bit odd with his beer gut and sheer shirt. Actually, he kinda looked like a creepy Uncle Floyd - that's a reference for all the Jersey heads. David looked frail and was just kinda standing there for most of the set. He did seem to get a second wind about halfway through.

Towards the end Sylvain dedicated a song to the great Johnny Thunders - I forget which specific song it was. I found it a bit odd he only mentioned Johnny, you would think the other dead Dolls would get a shout out too. Around this time they played what I was waiting to hear - Trash and Jet Boy. These two classics are by far my favorite Doll tracks. Of course the place went apeshit on the opening riff.

Trash was a little off sounding - I can't put my finger on why but something wasn't right. It still was good though, it just seemed like it could have been a little tighter. Jet Boy (MP3) was just fucking ridiculus - better than I expected in fact. Soon after the set was over and the drag-queen and her friend reappeared. They talked some shit about being sluts and what not and then asked if we wanted another song. Of course the response was yes - to which the Dolls came out and did one more.

And that was that, one hell of a set by the Two York Dolls (get it because there's only two?.. sorry, I'm an ass).

Rated-X Last Night

So after much deliberation I decided to head to Scenic once again. This was the third week in a row and I really didn't want to go this Saturday but it was Michael T's bday bash. There was huge hype around this weeks Rated-X and I didn't want to miss anything.

We showed up a little after 11pm and headed down stairs to hit the open bar. It was fucking packed down there and it was only 11:15. I have never seen so many heads there before midnight. We muscled our way through the crowd and posted up at the end of the bar. Then we started working on our Red Bull & vodka. Nights that start with Red Bull & vodka are always interesting - caffeine, taurine, & booze is a vicious combo.

As always nothing really changed during the open bar. We held our positions until midnight. Once the free booze dried up we started roaming around. I went upstairs and met some guy in a Devo cover band. He introduced me to a 6'4" amazon woman who is also in the band. They were both pretty cool and I promised I would check them out when I had a chance.

Things at this point start to get a little blurry. I think I was drinking PBR but I'm not sure, at some point I bought a Colt 45 forty which I nursed all night. I know at some point Michael T was onstage with his band. They were surprisingly good, their cover of Jet Boy was pretty killer. I think they should stick with the band theme, it was fun.

Upstairs there were a bunch of half-naked dudes dancing on tables. It was super gay, but this was Michael T's birthday party after all. Honestly, I wish I had some more interesting tales to tell. There was tons of scandalous shit going on but I was fucking twisted and forgot most of it.

It was very hot inside and I decided to take off my hoodie and throw it over my shoulder. Somehow, in my drunken stupor, I lost the fucking thing. That was the least of my worries - I also, at that point, realized my cell phone was missing as well. Oh the horror!

This all took place right around the same time the hot bod contest started. So instead of checking out the naked ladies I was walking around with my roommates phone staring at the floor and calling my cell. I was hoping the flashing lights would lead me to it but that never happened.

After about an hour of that my roommate gave it a go and somehow managed to find it. It was under the bar - I guess it came out of my pocket when I was reaching for cash. I still managed to see a little bit of the show. The same dude and chick that were in the finals last week re-entered. Once again they made it into the finals but were beaten by some femme boy.

Searching for the phone killed the night for me and we took off immediately after finding it. We hit the hot dog joint and then hopped on the J train. I was still hungry so we went to the Puerto Rican food place under the train. The place was packed and the food was cheap and delicious - my favorite combo. Then I went home and ate a bag of popcorn. At that pace I'll be a fat bastard in no time.

BSC's first nip shot

Sorry, China Club is uptown... nice tits though.
