Tonight: Death Set, Team Robes, NinjaSonik, Ballzy @ The Shank

I've been waiting for this show for about 2 months. Sure, it's almost the same as the show a few weeks ago but the difference is I want to see ALL of these bands. So I'm excited, really excited. Shit is going to be a party.

This is the kickoff show for a tour with this same line-up. Imagine these crazy Brooklyn fucks coming to like fucking Burmingham or something? Minds will be blown and lives will change.

BK represent son!

...Can someone put me on the list? I'm fucking BROKE!

Team Robespierre & So So Glos @ Autumn Bowl

So I totally forgot to write up a review for this one - whoops. Here's a really brief recap and some pics:

  • Autumn Bowl is an amazing fucking spot and there needs to be more parties there.
  • The sound kinda sucks though, 300 foot ceilings and having the band set up 20 feet above everyone doesn't help either.
  • Sliding/climbing in and out of the bowl is fun but you might get splinters in your ass.
  • The food there was plucked from dumpsters, yum!
  • So So Glos were awesome
  • Team Robespierre was good but clearly the set up was not helping them out - being away from the crowd and all.
  • There's some sort of toxic dust i the air at Autumn Bowl, you can see it in the pics.

Yes, all of the above are playing together tonight! Plus you also get Wild Yaks, MNDR, Dre Skull and more. This shit is going to be crazy. I'm still fucking sick but that's not stopping me from going to this - nothing will. I'll punch my way in if I have to. Oh, and free beer!

Tonight: Skarhead Playing Secret Show In Greenpoint

I went to the E Town Concrete reunion show last night. It was the second of two reunion shows. The first show on Friday had NYHC legends Skarhead open up and apparently they put on one hell of a show - despite only playing five songs. I just got word that Skarhead is the "special guest" at the Danny Diablo show tonight at Redstar Bar in Greenpoint. I'd be there but I'm battling a bout of travelers sickness from last nights trek into Jersey.

Here's a nice little map showing what areas the oil in Greenpoint has seeped into.

Toxic Brooklyn - Greenpoint Oil Spill

I always knew Greenpoint and Williamsburg were former industrial areas but I had no idea I was living on top of one of the biggest oil spills in history. The spill started in the 50's...and guess what - it STILL hasn't been cleaned up. That's right folks, when I said we're living on top of one of the world's biggest oil spills I wasn't speaking figuratively.
