Lady Gaga Gives Weird Al The Okay For Parody, "Perform This Way"
When Weird Al sent Lady Gaga his spoof of "Born This Way" she shot it down. She's a serious artist and how dare Weird Al poke fun at her. Well, Weird Al went on the offensive and announced that proceeds from the song would go to charity. So Lady Gaga caved and gave Weird Al the thumbs up. Hooray for Weird Al!

Safety Video (Best Video Ever)
Yesterday the Black Lips posted this video to their Facebook page. Whether or not this is real, I don't know, but either way it is fucking awesome. All safety/instructional videos should be this amazing, although that's impossible because this simply can't be topped. Does anyone know who this band is and do they still exist?

GWAR Partied At Idle Hands Last Night
I had a meeting at 6:30 last night and somehow I completely forgot that this shit was happening. I could not be more angry with myself. Not surprisingly there are plenty of pictures to make me hate myself even more.

Spokeo: You're All Getting Suckered, Suckers.
For the past several years there have been a bunch sites which aggregate people's public information. Some of the better known sites are Pipl, 123People, PeekYou and Spock. Recently, there's been all types of press and online buzz about Spokeo. They're essentially no different from the other sites I listed except in one simple facet - they're pretty good at social media.
The news of Spokeo sharing your "private" personal info caught on like wildfire on Facebook. You probably saw a few posts about it from one of your friends, you might have even posted it yourself. All of the posts were nearly identical, people were clearly copying and pasting. From there, actual news outlets started picking up on this. Every time I see another article or segment on the news I smash my head against the wall.
Let me ask you something - where do you think the original message came from? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Spokeo started this shit up. Information aggregation is not new, your information being public is not new (and it is your fault, by the way), these sites are not new. Below is a variation of the message being sent around. How do people not see this is viral marketing 101?
So why is this news? Because anything you plaster all over Facebook becomes a story. If your business offers a service which is a bit scandalous, make it sound more scandalous! Then take to Facebook and plant a message about how everyone's info is public and they're totally fucked. Now YOU better tell your stupid friends because they're in danger too.
Meanwhile, Spokeo is sitting back watching their traffic skyrocket. Sure, a few people come by and remove themselves from the listings but not many. A small price to pay for making the 10 o'clock news (who are morons). The lesson here is think about what you're copying and pasting before you do it. You might be part of a not-so-elaborate marketing scheme. Don't let shitty aggregator sites work your ass and end up front page news.
Oh, and if you really want to hurt these types of sites how about changing your privacy settings on Facebook and deleting old profiles (Friendster & LiveJournal can go dude)? I tend to think that blocking their source feed makes a lot more sense then sending all of your friends to check out their site. Don't be dumb.

There's a site called spokeo.com, a new online USA phone book with your personal info: everything from pics on FB or web, your credit score, home value, income, age, children, etc. Remove yourself by searching for your name, copy the URL of your page, use this new link http://www.spokeo.com/privacy fill in the information. Check your email for the confirmation and follow those instructions.

Katy Perry's Tits Were On Saturday Night Live Too
Katy Perry was on SNL this weekend making fun of Sesame Street pulling the clip of her prancing around with her giant boobs bouncing around all over Elmo. It was a bit much for a kid's show but if the end result is this then fuck it, who cares?

11th Annual Gathering Of The Juggalos, Aug. 12-15th
It's my favorite time of the year! It's time for the Gathering Of The Juggalos, which means a new infomercial. If you remember last year's then you know why I'm excited. While the 2010 version probably won't get spoofed by SNL, it's still pretty awesome.
Link:
THIS IS REAL.
The Gathering is a huge festival organized by Insane Clown Posse that happens out in the woods somewhere in the Midwest. It's basically a meeting ground where every bored, suburban, wanna-be gangster kid from malls across America gather for four days of clown makeup, drugs, carnival games, wrestling, breeding and head banging to 90's rap like Insane Clown Posse, Naughty By Nature, Coolio, Warren G, Twiztid, Tone Loc, Vanilla Ice and literally hundreds more, most of whom are ICP copy cats (I know). There's also some nu-metal surprises like (Hed)PE. There's also crazy shit like Todd Bridges ("whatchu talkin' bout Willis") wrestling, yup he's wrestling, and comedy from "Gallagher, up in this bitch yo." As terrifying as this all might sound I look forward to attending one year because sometimes ridiculous shit like this entertainment gold.
Jesus H. Christ, fucking Juggalos, man.
I repeat, THIS IS REAL.
God bless America.

Andrew W.K. Was A Teenage Stalker
If this is real, and not just a PR stunt for his album, it's fucking amazing. Back in high school Mr. W.K. wrote a song for the girl he was in love with. Unfortunately, she didn't quite feel the same and his love song turned landed him in therapy and with a restraining order. Check out the post and listen to the song and it's pretty obvious why. That poor girl must have been afraid to leave her house. It's still fucking funny as shit though.

Turd Cutter Banned From YouTube
A few months back I discovered a little music video called "Turd Cutter." At the time it only had about 400 views. Once I posted it and sent it around to some of my favorite sites that number shot up to over 1,000. Not a lot by internet standards but enough to get the word out there. I just went to YouTube to see how the TC boys were doing with views and guess what? YouTube removed it! Bastards. I guess they're not ass men.
However, I did a quick search and noticed a that it's up on Funny Or Die and bunch of new sites are linking to it. So in the future when "Turd Cutter" is dubbed the greatest video of all time just remember it started here and also that YouTube doesn't like cake.

My Hook Up List...
Here is a fine example of why it sucks to be a kid these days. Some chick ratted on her brother so he sought out revenge, and what sweet revenge it was.

Let Me See That Turd Cutter!
Dear Hip Hop:
"Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!" -Harry
Every once in awhile I start typing random words into YouTube search just to see what weird shit comes up. The other day I happened to type in "turd" and what may in fact be the greatest song and music video of all time popped up. It's called "Turd Cutter" and it's magical. This video has viral written all over (in more ways then one), so please allow me to introduce the world to it. Ladies & gentlemen, without further delay, "Turd Cutter"...
***Update: Let's make this famous. Send the video around to all who will enjoy. Dollar Bill$ and Kraven Kash deserve our support for their contributions to the art world.

Titus Andronicus Did Not Have Fun At The VICE Party
Saturday night I checked out the VICE 15-year anniversary / Halloween party at some giant warehouse on N.10th. I got there early and didn't have to deal with any of the door drama that ruined the night for a few people. The space itself was impressive, the booze was free, the bands were pretty awesome and the DJs were playing 90's tunes. Apparently though all types of fucked up shit was going on, which isn't surprising at all. I didn't experience any of this but I left kinda early.
Patrick from Titus Andronicus wrote about his experience and I commend him for still playing his set after all this bullshit. Read all about it here:

***By the way 75% of the people at the party were wearing costumes that had more to do with 1984 then 1994. Is it that people just didn't give a shit about the theme or has pop culture bled together so much with our generation that we no longer recognize the difference between 84 and 94? I'm just saying, in 1994 we fucking hated all things 80's so it's weird that people are mixing the two...or maybe I'm just an old bastard.

Tonight: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Live @ Beacon)
I've been waiting for this night for a long time...The Nightman Cometh! The gang is in town and they're bringing Charlie's legendary play with them. I was only able to buy a single ticket (thanks Ticketmaster) but that's good enough for me.

2009 Gathering Of The Juggalos: The Photo Essay
I used to hit the occasional trailer park party when I was growing up in South Jersey. The Juggalo thing was just getting started back then. It amazes me how much this has blown up since. This fucking shit fascinates me...
