Tonight: Personality Crisis With Team Robespierre & SHAPES

Tonight is the 2-year anniversary of Personality Crisis. PC is a monthly DIY show/party put together by SHAPES. We love SHAPES so when they asked us to get involved we were totally down. We asked one of our favorite bands in Brooklyn, Team Robespierre, if they'd want to headline the show and they were down too.

Shea Stadium is one of our favorite DIY spots in Brooklyn and this party is just fucking crazy always so the addition of Team Robespierre should make this one for the books. Fanelli, of SHAPES, is also making his famous homemade 4 Loko, which he calls Crisis Crunk. And to top it off our favorite descendant of Aaron, Jeremy J Cohen, is celebrating his birthday!

Personality Crisis is a rad DIY party that our friend Fanelli of SHAPES throws once a month at Shea Stadium. PC is celebrating 2 years of raging on Jan. 29th. We kinda sorta helped out with the anniversary party and as such Brooklyn Ski Club is the presenting sponsor for the party! The always awesome Team Robespierre will be headlining the show. Team Robespierre Played Bruar Falls

Last night King Kog, the bike shop, threw a holiday party at Bruar Falls. Team Robespierre headlined the show. The crowd was a little lazy the first couple of songs, which is really weird for a TR show. The mic kept cutting out early on so that probably had something to do with it. But after a couple of tunes and with the sound sorted out shit went into high gear and stayed that way for a the rest of the show. As always Team Robespierre was awesome and we had a little mini-riot going in Bruar Falls.

The bike shop, King Kog, is throwing a holiday party at Bruar Falls tonight. There will be bands, burlesque, raffles and a photobooth. Team Robespierre will be headlining the party and it's all totally free...except for the beer, you'll have to pay for that.

Tonight: Gunfight @ Don Pedro's; Superfest 24-Hour Party

Start the night at Don Pedro's with Gunfight!, I'm Turning Into, Easter Vomit and more. The show is $6 and they're giving away free Joose 9-11pm. After the show head over to the Williamsburg Industrial Park and check out Superfest, which is a 24-hour party with bands, DJs, booze and food. Yes, it's really 24-hours nonstop!

Superchief.tv is throwing a 24-hour rager to celebrate the launch of their new website. They got Brooklyn's finest to show up and perform, including Japanther, Ninjasonik, Deathset, Team Robespierre, Cerebral Ballzy and a bunch more. Plus Dirty Finger, Murdertronics, Roofeeo, Morsy and like 20 other kids DJing. It all starts at 4am on Saturday and goes until 4am on Sunday, non-fucking-stop! There will be a pancake breakfast at sunrise and BBQ served up at 2pm to keep you strong. You'll need the strength for sure. Think you can hang the full 24-hours? I don't stand a chance but luckily I live 5 minutes away. Oh, and all this for $10!

Talib Kweli Is The Secret Guest At Bushwick Block Party Today

According to Team Robespierre, yes! The Bushwick Block Party is an all day bash on the street by the Morgan L stop. Team Robespierre, Electric Tickle Machine, Shark? and a bunch more are playing. PBR is having an art show tonight and of course that means free beer. The open bar is from 9-10 and afterwards all PBR is a mere $1. The winner of the art show gets about $2K and a years worth of PBR (you drunks will make them pay dearly for that I'm sure).

New Year's Eve Parties & Shows

As is the case every year there are a shit ton of parties for NYE. That said most of what you see on the various NYE sites and local event sites are douchetastic. Here are a few parties that might be more up your alley if you're trying to avoid the cast of Jersey Shore.

The most interesting party might be at Shea Stadium but I'm not sure I can handle the entire history of the world.

Tonight: Friday The 13th (Team Robes, Wild Yaks, Sherpas, DirtyFinger, Art Brut)

There's a shit ton of shit going on tonight (I'm a regular fuckin' wordsmith ain't I). There's seriously 15 solid choices tonight but I've narrowed it down to the places I'll be likely hitting.

First I'm heading to Legion to check out Workout and Sherpas. Our homeboys Forest City were supposed to play but they got sick. Then I might check out Art Brut at Brooklyn Bowl, because they're fucking fun. Then it's over to Starr Space for a KILLER party with Team Robes, Wild Yaks, Lauren Flax, FOTP, and bunch of other shit too.

If I'm still going late night my final stop will be 171 Lombardy for another killer with Dirtyfinger and Jah Jah DJing plus a bunch of bands. The cover is $5 or free if you show your dick at the door...seriously. People are actually asking to see your dick. There's a first for everything, huh buddy? It's OK.

• Wavves @ Market Hotel: Wavves are pretty awesome and when I saw them at Bowery Ballroom the whole time I was saying to myself "This would be so much better at Market Hotel". $10
  
• Suckers & Wild Yaks @ Glasslands: Somehow I haven't actually seen Suckers yet. I don't understand how that's possible. But Rob from Wild Yaks swears that they're amazing and that's good enough for me. $6.
  
• Team Robespierre @ Legion Bar: This is my FUCK YEAH show of the night. A free Team Robes show at Legion Bar. Sign me up! VICE and Colt are involved too so there's going to be free beer. I may or may not hit the other shows but I will def be at this.
• Netherfriends @ The Glass Door: Netherfriends are an awesome band from Chicago. I thought I exchanged some emails with them a few months back but I can't find them so maybe I hallucinated the whole thing, damn you peyote. Anyway, this is a house party and my homeboy DJ Full Time Fun is spinning too. Also, Purple Crush is playing but I can't remember if I like them or not. $5, 98 Moore Street 2nd Floor.

Goodbye Summer Show w/ So So Glos, Team Robes, DeathSet, Ninjasonik, Wild Yaks, & More!

If you're a fan of the current Brooklyn music scene then this might be the best show ever (flyer below). My only question is where's Boogie Boarder and Matt & Kim? Oh wait, there's "special guests" - OK, I get it. The show is $10, which isn't bad at all for an all day thing and it's at the Broadway Backyard.

**Update: According to MyOpenBar there's going to be some kind of free booze too.

Brooklyn electro-punk bands Matt & Kim and Team Robespierre, both of whom are must-see live bands are playing a free show on a pier tonight. It's at whatever pier is at the end of 14th Street, you'll see it. Anyway, this is going to be fucking awesome! Especially if you sneak some booze in. Team Robes goes on at 6:30PM.

Tonight: Overbored Fundraiser w/ Team Robes, Ninjasonik, Boogie Boarder, & More

I'm moving today so you'll have to hit this one without me. Nonetheless this is certain to be one hell of a party. A bunch of good bands plus food, booze, and ice cream.

Tonight: Free Show, Team Robespierre & Cerebral Ballzy @ The Charleston

Holy fuck nuts! Yeah, that was completely necessary. You see Team Robespierre and Cerebral Ballzy are playing a free show tonight at The Charleston on Bedford. There are a few factors that will make this one for the books.

1) Team Robes & Ballzy! I mean, they're two of the craziest live bands in Brooklyn.
2) The Charleston is one of the last bastions of punk rock in Williamsburg. All the old crazies still frequent this joint. Add two high energy bands to that and you have a party.
3) It starts LATE, like 11 or midnight. For a Wednesday show that's pretty crazy. This means that by the time Ballzy goes on everyone is going to be shit faced and out of control. This is good!
