TV On The Radio Have A New Video, "Second Song" + Releasing Live EP

TV On The Radio have a new video and a new live EP coming out called "World Cafe Live" which is available on September 6th. They will be in NYC on the 8th at the Williamsburg Waterfront. 

RIP Gerard Smith (TV On The Radio)

Gerard Smith of TV On The Radio has died from lung cancer. The band has announced that they will cancel a string of tour dates out of respect for their fallen friend.

There are a ton of killer shows tonight. TV On The Radio ($31 - sold out)and Vivian Girls (w/ Black Lips, $20) are both dropping albums today and playing shows to celebrate. Chris Cornell is doing a solo acoustic show  (w/ William Elliot Whitmore, who is amazing) which I would fucking kill to be at. Yes, his new solo shit is atrocious but then again have you ever heard the acoustic version of "Like Suicide"? Hearing that live is worth $50. Not down for big, fancy venues tonight? Surf City and Darlings are at Glasslands ($8).

TV On The Radio, SNL Debacle

Did anyone watch SNL this weekend? Yeah, I know it's awful these days but I know at least a couple of you were still too hungover from Friday to go out on Saturday and saw this.

TV On The Radio was the musical guest, which is awesome right? Not so much. I'm a huge TVOTR fan, I think they're one of the few original bands out right now and I love just about everything they've done.

That said the SNL performance was horrid! There was so much wrong that I really don't know if the band was fucking up, the sound guy fucked up, or all of the above. Actually the mix was bad, no doubt, but that doesn't explain the general terrible-ness of the set.

SNL has a long history of making great bands sound average so I'll cut TVOTR a break and blame the shit sound crew on SNL. Take a listen to this catastrophe...

Aquarium Drunkard put together an amazing post with five acoustic TV On The Radio tracks. Honestly I didn't think it was possible for TVOTR to get better but hearing these songs acoustic really blew me away. I listened to "Blues From Down Here" four times in a row.
