Deftone's Have A New Video, "Beauty School"
Deftones never cease to amaze me. They emerged from a scene that many consider the low point of the last 20 years to be one of the great bands of our generation. Somehow they continue to maintain relevancy when all of their contemporaries have become the punchlines of tired old jokes. But their evolution isn't what this post is about - they have another new video to share and it's chock full of live footage.

Deftones - Diamond Eyes (Video)
Deftones have a new video out for their new tune "Diamond Eyes." The song has one of the heaviest riffs I've ever heard from them, it's almost Pantera heavy even. Honestly I don't want Deftones to get too heavy which is nice that they mellow it out in the chorus a bit. The video itself is nothing special. The only thing that got my attention is that Chino actually looks like Chino again, which is to say he's not a big fat ass anymore. Good for you buddy, you'll be dusting off those old Dickies in no time flat.

New Deftones Track "Rocket Skates"
The Deftones are fucking awesome. I mean to emerge from that mid-90's NuMetal bullshit fest is fucking proof alone. There's a reason they are the one and only band from that scene to be considered legitimate artists. Plus, have you ever seen them live? I have. They blow fucking minds.
But I digress, they have a new tune that was JUST released online called "Rocket Skates." I listened and it's pretty classic Deftones, which considering the shit coming out now is refreshing as hell. Some people are pissed they recorded new shit while their longtime bassist, Chi Cheng, is in a coma but I think it's a good thing they kept going. We need the Deftones. Long live Deftones!

The '90's Video Assault, Episode 4: Deftones
This video right here changed the world. When this hit MTV and The Box (remember that shit?) within hours every punk kid with a skateboard in America was rocking Dickies. This was the soundtrack to our lives we were all waiting for. This song inspired half the kids I know to pick up guitars. When we all rushed out and bought the album we were even more blown away. Adrenaline became the standard and was heard everywhere. "Bored" became the first of many Deftones songs every heavy band in every town covered (mine covered "Bored" and "7 Words"). I even went out and bought a Stephen Carpenter ESP LTD, which I still have and was just playing 10 minutes ago. So while this song is my least favorite from the album it does not take away the importance. Enjoy.
Aww, look how skinny Chino is...
