Stream New Heliotropes Album

I'm going to be honest here and tell you that I'm pretty damn bored with Brooklyn music these days. The bands that have been around forever are still killing it but there aren't too many new bands that get my attention. That said, Heliotropes are fucking awesome. They finally have an album and it's available to stream on Spin. I've listened to about half of it so far and I dig it. The mellow tunes kinda remind me of Hole but that's not why I'm writing about them, check out the heavier stuff because it's really amazing. I like everything about this band and I haven't even seen them live yet. I never say good things about bands I haven't seen live. I hear good things though. Anyway, give this a listen and try and tell me it's not killer.

Heliotropes - A Constant Sea

NYC Tonight: Soundgarden, Heliotrope, Mountain Goats

Bored? No friends? Drinking on the couch... again? Don't fret, Chet. It's a big city full of fun people looking to hang out with schlubs just like you! Here are a few suggestions on radical happenings in the city tonight.

• Soundgarden at Terminal 5, 7pm (Sold Out): This will be awesome and I will be there. Try and get in somehow. 
• Heliotropes, Gang Signs, Blackout at Union Pool, 9pm (Cover???): I haven't heard much by Heliotropes but what I have heard is fucking awesome. Never seen them live. If I wasn't going to see one of my all-time favorite bands tonight I would be here. 

• John from Mountain Goats at Studio X, 6:30pm (RSVP): Don't know what this is but John is cool in my book. It's a GQ event so it might be heavy on the douchery. Worth a shot though.
