Danzig/Misfits Christmas Show In Jersey

Danzig will be playing a show the day after Christmas in North Jersey. Doyle is listed as the opening act, which means there's a very good chance we'll hear some Misfits! I just bought my tickets and I'm pretty fucking excited since I missed Danzig the last time he came around with Doyle.

Pete Doherty Will Kill You

The Sun is reporting that human drug depository, Pete Doherty, was involved in the death of an English actor. Apparently they got into a drunken argument and the guy ended up dead. At this point no one knows if Pete killed the dude or not but I wouldn't be surprised. Except for the fact that he weighs about 110 pounds. Although the dead guy was an actor which means there's a good chance he was really, really tiny.

Tonight: Deftones On Conan

Tonight tune into Conan O'Brien and see the first television appearance of the Deftones in 3 years. I've only heard a few of the new Deftones tracks but they were pretty good. They used to be an awesome live band but that had alot to do with Chino's energy. Now that he weighs 375 pounds it's hard to imagine that he still runs around like the old days.

More L Train, More G Train...Finally

So after several years of absolute shit service on both the L and G lines the MTA has announced that trains will be added to both lines at all hours. They won't launch these new trains until Spring but that's better then never - which is what everyone was expecting. It's nice to know all those weekends dragging my ass to the J train weren't for nothing.

The timing on this is pretty good too considering I'm about to move back to Brooklyn. This time it's Greenpoint so for the first time I'll need to rely on both the G and the L. So here's to you MTA - you finally did something right.

Happy Repeal Day!

As you may have already heard today is a wonderful day. On this day many, many years ago the horror that was Prohibition came to an end. Thus allowing responsible adults the freedom of complete drunken debauchery - just as nature intended. Hell, if it wasn't for alcohol I would probably be in my final year of grad school at Harvard right now. How fucking boring does that sound? So go out tonight and slam down a shot or six for all the bootleggers who fought for our freedom.

Free Advertising On BSC

From now on I'm going to offer 1 brand/company/website/whatever free advertising for a month, every month. Since this month is the birth month of BSC I'm going to pick 2. So send me an email telling me why you should get the free ad, I need to know about your product. If you already know me then just send me an email and let me know you're interested.

Best MySpace Bands

This is kinda funny considering I was checking out random MySpace bands last night. Today in my RSS feeds I found a link to a site called Best MySpace Band. The way it works is - you sign up and then submit bands you think deserve some attention. Then other users vote, sorta like Digg, on which bands deserve the top spots. It's a damn good idea and hopefully gets a few good bands some attention.

Happy Birthday to Ski Club

Believe it or not it's been exactly one year since the very first Brooklyn Ski Club post. It's been a very up-and-down beginning - most months BSC got about 5,000 visitors but there were a few times we got 2,000 visitors in a day.

I was originally going to have a big 1-year anniversary party but I've decided to wait until next year. BSC started out geared towards party and nightlife and has since changed directions more towards music. Anyway, I want to thank some people that have been good to Ski Club over the past year. First of all thanks to Andy Shaw, he helped out BSC big time in the early days before anyone else ever heard of it. All of the bands I've been in contact with, especially Apes & Androids and Sigmund Droid. Of course, I have to thank the original BSC crew and past/present contributors- Hank, Cutie, Trav, Olga, Gabe, Bryan, Phil, & Tom. Finally a big thanks to all the people that have shown support to Brooklyn Ski Club like Michael T (Motherfucker & Rated-X) and Antonio (Trash).

I also want to thank all my fellow bloggers out there who have sent traffic my way like Cocaine Corner, Brooklyn Vegan, Buzzgrinder, Stereogum, MyOpenBar, Gorilla Vs. Bear, IndieErotica, Suckapants, and everyone else out there that's sent people this way.

I know there are plenty more of you out there I didn't mention and it's because I just woke up and my brain isn't functioning yet. Feel free to leave a comment saying "Hey, fuck you! Where's my name asshole?"

To celebrate the big b-day click on the past months and read some old posts.

Tonight: Merauder, All Out War, & More

Wow! Now this is a hardcore show. Merauder and All Out War make the $15 worth it alone then you get all these other good bands on top of it. The bitch is I can't make it, I already have like 10 things to do.

It's a busy night especially if you're a fan of DJ Jess. The night starts at Fontana's for Nu-Art Skool where Jess' band We Are Americana are playing. Breakup Breakdown will also be playing so make sure you get there early. After that head over to Rififi for Trash where Jess will be DJing - if you show your stamp you get a free drink.

Jerry Lee Lewis Plays Led Zepplin

The "Killer" is back and he's playing Zepplin. That's right Jerry Lee Lewis, one of the founders of Rock N' Roll, playing Led Zepplin's classic "Rock and Roll". This video is from a live performance on the Today Show.

Helmet Opening For GNR

It was announced that Helmet will be playing a bunch of shows opening for Guns N' Roses. I understand that the money must be good and the exposure can't hurt but after that whole "Pigeons Of Shit Metal" thing I'd be a bit hesitant if I were Page Hamilton. I really hope Axl doesn't act like a douche and fuck over Helmet, one of my favorite bands growing up.
