The Germs Recap

The show started VERY late. I was supposed to attend the second set, which was supposed to start at 10:30. I got there thinking the band just finished set one. They actually just started the first set. When we entered the Magik Markers were playing - holy shit do they suck. Complete rubbish. My theory is that these are super scenesters that are trying to be avant-garde or some bullshit. This band plays Manhattan alot and people go to see them... I have no idea why. After a few songs(?) they finally stopped. The 45-minute set-up for the Germs followed.

After a long wait the band appeared with the new singer/actor. I wanted to hate this bastard, just because the idea of an actor who played the singer becoming the actual singer is absurd. But this guy was pretty fuckin good. Although it did seem as if he was playing the part of "rock star" at times. Pat seemed like he was having the time of his life. The crowd wasn't half as crazy as I expected but I suppose that had something to do with the large contingency of 50 year olds in the crowd. All in all, this was very fucking cool.

The Germs @ The Continental
Harpo Marx... err, Pat Smear. Sorry!
