Make Your Own Italian Water Ice!

There's nothing more refreshing on a hot day then a freezing cold Italian Water Ice. A few weeks ago I accidentally stumbled upon a recipe and I was shocked by how incredibly friggin easy it is to make. I'm hesitant to share because I want to be the awesome dude at the BBQ that brought homemade Water Ice but fuck it - this is too good to keep to myself. No bullshit, it's the best I've ever had... and I grew up on the Jersey Shore.

So the process is super simple. Bring water and sugar almost to a boiling point, add juice, then freeze. Seriously, that's it. So here's an example so you can get the proportions right.

2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1/3 to 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice

Again, just heat up the water and sugar until it blends and then kill the heat and add the juice. Use fresh juice whenever possible and feel free to get creative. The next batch I'm making will be a citrus punch - orange, lime, lemon, grapefruit, and tangerine.

So that's it, have fun, get creative and stay cool my babies!

***Lemon and lime work best. Grapefruit is tasty but the extra sugar means you'll need to tweak the recipe a bit. Just keep mixing and matching, it will all taste good.

Thank you I will try that immediately. I'm allergic to cream and milkbased icecream.
